The Infinity Pool
Looking Out Over the Only Water Larger Than Itself
Heated year-round. Positioned for the sunset.
A hotel pool is usually a rectangle dug into the ground as an afterthought. Ours was part of the architectural brief from day one. It is an infinity-edge design positioned on the western elevation of the property, which means when you are in the water looking outward, the edge of the pool appears to drop directly into Lake Victoria.
Crucially, the pool is heated. Kisumu is warm, but a breeze off the lake in July can make an unheated pool unusable. We keep the water at a sustained temperature that makes a 6am swim actually enjoyable rather than an exercise in endurance. The pool is 18 metres long — enough distance for guests who want to swim laps before breakfast rather than just wade.
The surrounding deck is paved in non-slip local stone, with cushioned loungers and umbrellas spaced out so you aren't sitting on top of the person next to you. Poolside service is run out of the Sunset Bar — you can order lunch, coffee, or a cocktail without leaving your lounger.
Access and Hours: The pool is open daily from 6:00am to 7:00pm. It is complimentary for all hotel guests. We issue a limited number of day passes to non-guests to ensure the pool never gets overcrowded. Fresh towels are provided at the pool deck.
